ABOUT THE ARTISTS
And/Or Pt. 3 | Acceleration marks the latest chapter in the ongoing journey of a pop-up art project initiated by Vanessa Briones & Tina Ford in 2018. And/Or was inspired by the connection they found around being mixed race, driving them to explore what happens at the crossroads of cultures. This project emerged from a desire to find common ground in the in-between spaces, where differences intersect. Prior programming delved into the interplay of tension and harmony, revealing how both can coexist.

However, the landscape has shifted since those early days. A span of five years brought forth a transformation in the conversations encircling race and identity. As curators, they navigated the changes in this discourse, embracing the dual challenge of celebrating progress while acknowledging the persistent hurdles that remain.

Guided by dialogues with the participating artists, And/Or Pt. 3 takes a fresh direction. From all parts of the world, Mike Arcega, Lorena Endara, Felicity Machado, Gozie Ojini and Nicole Baker Peterson connect around the theme of "acceleration," — both in its literal and figurative manifestations. Their work beckons us to contemplate how acceleration influences our lives with the ever-quickening pace of both personal and societal transformation.
