Increasing Faults and Pouring Time with Olla are both interested in telling a story about time. Time in a geological, personal, and digital mode. These works use materials like fused glass mixed with metal oxides and copper that undergo temperatures of 1350F to depict the transformation of minerals and cycles that happen to in and around fault lines. These works also use terracotta, moss, and video poetry to talk about our personal relationship to time and digital decay.
How time is able to both accelerate and slow down is dependent on our willingness to somehow be between both. To be aware of large movements around us, geologically and politically, but also to grow an intense intimacy with the time it takes for a plant to live its life cycle. This And/Or space as articulated by earlier iterations of this curatorial project, allows for the coexistence of being both, not only as a cultural identity, but as a necessary perspective of how to operate within our rapidly transforming time.
