About the Artists:

Rialin José (aka Rye) (she/they) is a queer Filipina horror artist based in Chicago, IL.

In the past, she created vibrant, wholesome pieces reflecting her Filipino culture. She created various art series based on cuisine, sari-sari stores, and the palengke (public market). As of late 2021, Rye has shifted her focus to making surreal horror art, while still paying homage to her roots.

With a B.A. from Columbia College Chicago, Rye also uses her background in film to create videos of her process. She is mostly fluent in Tagalog and Ilokano languages, which she often incorporates in her work. Her username aniniwan is Ilokano for shadow.
